Traveling around England or anywhere in Europe is a lot different than traveling at home. With the limited space here, the bus and train systems are so convenient you really don’t need a vehicle to get around. In the states I believe most of us drive everywhere we need to go, even if it is only 3 blocks away. I believe when you physically have to take money out of your pocket to pay for a bus, sometimes it is just easier to walk. So if you have the time they get out and walk every day. We wonder why so many Americans are over weight, its because the farthest they walk is to their car and back. They don’t take the stairs, and we sit in front of the television all night. Hmm?
Since I have been here I am walking a lot more than I normally would back home. I figure I am probably walking upwards of 2-3 miles a day. It’s been great to really get out and stretch my legs. From 1999-2001 I lived in the Canary Islands (Spain), and I walked everywhere then too. Its just as contagious here!
